Crossing Party Lines (CPL) is committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us by members, participants, donors, volunteers, partners, and visitors. This notice explains what we collect through the Member Hub — our membership and community platform — how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices available to you. It complements the full Privacy Policy on our website.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the Member Hub, we may collect:

Your name and email address
Account and membership details, and your membership level
Event registrations and attendance
Donation information
Content you post in member discussions, along with topic and book suggestions, poll votes, and idea-board activity
Newsletter subscription preferences
Messages you send through contact or sign-up forms and surveys
Technical information such as browser type, device type, IP address, and how you use the site

We strive to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate the Member Hub and support our mission.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, including donor information, to other organizations or for commercial purposes.

Payments and Donor Privacy

CPL values the trust of every donor and paying member. Payment and membership transactions are handled by a trusted third-party payment processor. CPL does not store complete credit card numbers or other sensitive payment details on its own systems. Information provided with a donation is used only to process the contribution, acknowledge the gift, keep financial records, comply with legal requirements, and communicate about our mission unless you choose otherwise. You may opt out of fundraising communications at any time.

Member Discussions and Community Content

Content you post in member discussions and community features is visible to other signed-in members. To keep the community safe and consistent with our rules of conduct, CPL may use automated tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to help review posts. In keeping with our commitment that technology should never operate invisibly, we disclose that AI assists with community moderation; a person remains responsible for moderation decisions. Please post with respect for others and share only what you are comfortable being seen by fellow members.

Email Communications

We send account and event emails needed to provide the service (such as sign-in links, registration confirmations, and reminders). If you subscribe to our mailing list, we may also send newsletters, event announcements, and organizational updates. Every newsletter includes an option to unsubscribe, and you may opt out at any time.

Cookies and Analytics

The Member Hub uses a secure sign-in cookie to keep you logged in on your device, and may use limited analytics to understand overall site performance and visitor trends. These tools are not intended to monitor individual visitors. You may adjust your browser settings to manage or disable cookies, though some features may not work without the sign-in cookie.

Third-Party Service Providers

CPL relies on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the Member Hub: Stripe (payment and subscription processing), Resend (email delivery), and Supabase and Railway (secure database and application hosting). Each provider receives only the information necessary to perform its service and is expected to protect it under its own privacy and security practices. We do not sell or share your information with third parties for their own marketing.

Data Security

CPL uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to help protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Access is limited to individuals who need it to carry out their responsibilities on behalf of CPL. No electronic system can guarantee absolute security, but we continually work to safeguard the information entrusted to us.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described here, comply with legal obligations, maintain organizational records, or support our mission. When information is no longer needed, we strive to securely delete or anonymize it.

Our Commitment to Trust, Privacy, and Respect

Meaningful dialogue begins with trust. When you engage with CPL, you can expect us to treat every person with dignity and respect, foster conversations where people feel safe to participate openly, be transparent about how meetings are conducted, and clearly disclose when conversations are recorded or when technology — including AI — is used to support accessibility or administration. CPL does not permit participants to join meetings with AI assistants, automated note-taking services, or recording bots unless expressly authorized by the facilitator. When we seek to highlight or attribute an individual''s comments beyond the original discussion, we will seek permission where appropriate. Survey results shared publicly are generally presented in aggregate.

Children''s Privacy

The Member Hub and our programs are generally intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian consent.

Changes to This Policy

As our programs, technologies, and legal obligations evolve, we may update this policy. Any changes will be posted on this page along with a revised effective date.
