Abortion: Where are We Now?

Since the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, abortion laws have changed significantly across the United States. Some states have expanded access to abortion services, while others have enacted new restrictions or bans. As courts, legislatures, voters, healthcare providers, and individuals continue to respond, the legal landscape remains complex and varies from state to state. At this meeting, we’ll explore how abortion policy is evolving across the country and consider how these changes are affecting people, communities, and the broader national conversation. We’ll ask questions such as: Have changes in abortion law affected you, someone you know, or the way you think about the issue? If so, how? What experiences, values, or concerns most shape the way you think about abortion policy today? What has it been like for you to watch states take different approaches to abortion law? When you think about who should shape abortion policy going forward—courts, legislatures, voters, healthcare providers, or others—what experiences or concerns influence your thinking? This will be an opportunity to explore different perspectives on abortion policy in the United States and consider how the issue is evolving in the years following Roe v. Wade. Please do your best to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. Once we are in breakout rooms and the conversations have started, the meeting doors close to new arrivals.
